    yup… as expected !

I just cant believe Garce was chosen…. this is what I find rediculous about Diego.. he tested out over 120 players, Garce plays once, and gets picked to go to the WC, and to top it off he was picked after playing a match with HAITI ????… deja de joooodeeer !

I am truly shocked Maxi actually made it, this whole year i really thought he had no chance to make it back into the NT.. lets just hope he is inform. but then again, why hope, with a squad like this ??? please !

    • pintadoazulblanco says:

      Exactly Chris.

Garce being in the WC squad.

      Its not serious.

Clemente Rodriguez in the fullback spot instead of Zanetti or Zabaleta?

      Its not serious.

I’m surprised that Maxi made it too.

  2. quico882k3 says:

Well in my opinion i would have wanted so many other players to be in the WC squad instead but im going to cheer for Argentina and our team no matter what even with Maradona as our coach and with the choice of players he made if u ask me we still have a big chance in winning the world cup with the players we do have in the WC squad that do deserve to be ther my ideal line up that would lead us to the world cup is

    ———— Romero—————
    Otamendi Demichellis Samuel Heinze
    ———–Mascherano————-
    Messi——-Pastore——–DiMaria
    ——Tevez———-Higuain——

Lets imagine that line up Pastore Messi and DiMaria breaking through controling the mid-field with speed agility and having Tevez and Higuain drag all the deffenders we would cause total chaos a total nightmare for any deffense VAMOS ARGENTINA!!! the dream is still ther like the new Slogan for ARGENTINA says ” Ultima palabra, La gloria “

    • Mikey says:

Yeah that lineup could work! Well, at least the waiting is over, we know we we have to work with. I guess it can always be worse. Let’s just hope they can start to gel together now!

    • pintadoazulblanco says:

      Quico,

The only way that Pastore will play in the WC is if Veron is injured or is physically unfit.

There is no way that Veron will be able to keep up with the pace of a World Cup, playing every 3-4 days.

As it is now, Veron can barely withstand 45 minutes of international football.

But placing alot of hope on a young player that has very little national team experience like Pastore is also questionable.

We’ll have to hope for the best with what Maradona chose.

Hopefully, Pastore will replace Veron at some point during the WC and help the team.

It didn’t have to be that way. Argentina could’ve had a powerhouse of a team going to the WC but instead we get Otamendi, Heinze, Jonas, Veron, Clemente Rodriguez and Garce.

      • quico882k3 says:

Thats true im not saying we should put all our hopes in Pastore i know its alot to expect of him im just simply giving my best suggestion on what the starting line-up should be in my opinion Pastore might be unexperienced and young but i wouth rather have a quick agile and creative Pastore leading the attack ins tead of a brain dead slow Veron.

  3. Dano says:

No surprises here. Even Garce gives Maradona more options. General comments:

Back line- solid overall, lack of speed on the outside may be a problem in certain spots. To be honest would rather have another option rather than Heinze, but Maradona loves this guy.

Midfield- Only question here is Veron. No problem in his mind, but physically can he he go 7 games? I don’t think so, Pastore will be key. I expect DiMaria to shine. Jonas to be workman like.

Attack- Best collection in the world. question-can our midfield provide the ball in the right place & time? We will soon find out.

I think I have a knot in my stomach already…..

  4. River fan says:

Enough of the complaining. Lets get Behind the squad! This is a good team i think we win it all.

    • Pablito says:

Toy de Acuerdo. Lets get behind this team, and be optimistic. I see us getting to the Quarter~finals. Obviously I can’t say who will be up against, but If we can prevail. I strongly believe were lookin at the Cup for the 3rd time.

  5. pintadoazulblanco says:

    River fan,

Everybody that participates on the blog is free to share their feelings about the national team as long as it’s not offensive towards others.

Minimizing other people’s opinions as complaining does not add much to the discussion.

    Thanks.

  6. River fan says:

Im not trying to minimize peoples’ opinions but at this point complaing wont do any good: we know the 23 and its final. Sure i wish pupi was in the side, but we hace a team and a system that i think will work. I also dont think people would be so riled up about the list if there wa. A different coach. In 2006, pekerman left out zanetti, Samuel, and demichelis and brought cufre, scaloni, and coloccini. In 2002, bielda left out saviola but took caniggia who was 35 and did nothing but sit on the bench and get a red card. In 1998, passarella left out redondo and caniggia. In 1990, bilardo left out Ramón, tata brown, and valdano. I know people aré upset but we have our team and we gotta get behind it! Aguante Argentina, la Concha de su madre!

  7. Humbird says:

I’m more afraid than complaining. We wait for four full years, and all we feel is fear at this lineup. But more than that, it is fear of the coaching decisions to be made during the matches, especially in the sudden death rounds.

  8. roland says:

No surprise. Bolatti and Palermo are in. They deserve it because of the goals in Peru and Uruguay which bring Argentina to SA

  9. damian says:

Volveremos, volveremos, volveremos otra vez…volveremos ser campeones…como en el 86′ is all I have to say.. VAMOS ARGENTINA

  10. Ricky says:

    Dearest Friends,

Whats done is done. We can analylize all we want. Yes we are upset that a few good veteran men have been left out. Names that give even us confidence.Names we are used too, and names we have heard before.

We had big names in 2002 and looked what happened,…sigh.

But this is the team representing Argentina in the World Cup. A country of great football talent year after year, decade after decade, and century after century for sure.

It looks as balanced as possible under the given circumstances. A few senior players and some young blood talent that might seem unknown to opposition. This might just be to our advantage.

Thus they have no full knowledge of the capacity of the new blood, unless they have done their homework and research.

In short they do not know the strengths and weakness, besides slight inexperience for international games. Never the less they are hungry for glory.

I too fear the coaching decisions during the matches, sudden death rounds, injury and formal substitutions. These areas will be crucial as in 2006 against Germany for example.

But we have to get behind the team. Its war now and our soldiers are lined up. They will take the heat and firing.

We shall pravail and even if we don not win, Argentina can walk with their heads held high for sure.

This is our time and our year. May the media say all they want. But ARGENTINA will do well for sure.

My only wish is that they win it for a 3rd time and keep the trophy for keeps, as Brasil did before. I have waited 24 years for this. If this happens, i can say for sure that i can die a happy man !!

    God Bless ARGENTINA!!!

Thank you for all the good coments here.

    Cheers!

  11. argentin4life says:

    Ricky,
i m glad to read ur comment!!! i always want true fan for albiceleste and u r one of them!!! man the last line really touched my heart “if Argentina win the world cup then u r ready to die happily” … yes man ….. VAMOS ARGENTINA!!!!

  12. mauricef says:

well, know one can’t say they didn’t see it coming but as most people say let us get behind our team nevertheless. I mean, even this squad is good enough to reach the quarter finals. Frightening to think how powerful our team would be with the inclusion of the other players who should have been there. What I really want to know is when the jack ass will be leaving, of course you never know we might have a good world cup with this bunch, onething’s for sure if we manage to reach the quarter finals the jack ass will retain his job, so tell me what would you prefer, for us to have a good world cup(not win it, because I can’t see us winning it with the coach at the helm and the players that he have selected)and the idiot keeps his job or we have a bad world cup and the idiot is forced out of the job? Tough question, eh? I mean we do want us to do well, but at the same time we all want the idiot to begone and never, ever come back near the national team, not even just to offer words of inspiration. I do hope we do well but as I said before and I will say it again the only way the idiot will gain my respect as a coach is if we 1)reach the semis or the final 2)reach the final and lift the world cup, that said if we get lucky and reach the semis, I wouldn’t be too pleased, but satisfied, but as long as we reach the final with these bunch of players whether we win or not doesn’t matter to me because I don’t expect us to even reach the semis no matter how hard it is for me to say so. FORCA ALBICELESTE FOREVER!

  13. Chris says:

This goes out to everyone, and im sure most of you will agree with me.
No one has ever said we are not supporting our NT, al contrario, Im born and raised in California (dad argentine, mom Sicilian), but la pasion(passion) i have for our NT runs thru my veins ! and trust me, I have never met anyone (personally) like me who would give anything to see our Team succeed and be the best team in the world once again, like everyone else, i cry every WC we get eliminated, and i cried when we made it to the WC this year…
Yes i admit, i have said alot of negative things about our call ups, and about the useless coach we have, but in the end, my eyes will be glued to the t.v screen every time the NT plays, with my jersey, cheering on our country and singing our NT songs with the rest of our friends and families.
its not about me always being negative, its because we all share the same passion, and we want the best for our NT.. its unfortunate some of the BEST players in the world were left out of our roster. Do I have faith that we’ll win the WC this year?, no, i dont.
ever since Diego took over, there has been no tactics, or any type of play strategy, it just bothers me to see that considering we have some of the best players in the world..
with that being said, I dont want ANYONE assuming im not a “true fan”, or i dont support, if that were true, I wouldnt be sharing an conversating with all of you on Ron’s blog (which we all appreciate btw, thanks ron).
Dont get me wrong, I hope i bite my tongue and kick myself in the ass for talking trash if we do end up winning the WC, but trust me, i would prefer to feel that way and regret what I said, rather then losing the WC.. I fed up with us making it to the quarter finals, or thinking hey, we could’ve one if messi was put in against the germans.. enough is enough, we have the players, or should i say “had”,but unfortunetly we just have to settle with what we have now.. so I agree with Ricky and argentin4life, we should support, dont get me wrong, i dont think there’s not gonna be 1 person on this blog who’s not going to be cheering on our Team, regardless…
but critizes, i feel we have every right to do so after all our NT and Country has gone thru.
No offense to anyone please, this is the way I feel, and Voy apollar nuestro equipo asta LA MUERTE !!!!
