The Di Maria transfer rumors heating up

Manchester United face competition for Di Maria from Real Madrid under Mourinho

According to Spanish daily AS, Real Madrid will look to steal Argentinian winger Angel Di Maria from under Manchester United ‘s noses, should Jose Mourinho take over at the Bernabeu.

The 22 year-old has enjoyed a fantastic season at the Portugese champions Benfica, scoring nine goals and contributing sixteen assists in 40 games. Di Maria is expected to shine during this summer’s World Cup for Argentina.

Manchester United have long been linked with Di Maria, especially with Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson thought to be looking for a long term replacement for Ryan Giggs. Di Maria is a left-sided player with excellent speed and technique.

However, Real Madrid will also try to capture Di Maria’s signature, especially as his agent Jorge Mendes has a close relationship with the club and negotiated Cristiano Ronaldo ‘s world record move last summer from Manchester United .

In addition, this morning’s AS reports that should Jose Mourinho take over at Real Madrid , he has highlighted Di Maria as a prime transfer target. They also report that Manchester United are prepared to bid 44 million Euros for Di Maria, although their bid may now be scuppered by the ‘special one’.

Don’t want di maria to rot on the madrid bench

i’d prefer that no argentines play for that club it is so unstable. look what happened to Pipita who is going to be run out of town… Look at Robben, Sneijder, Samuel, Cambiasso, the list of great players who have left to do better in other places is long. Di Maria would be better off in the EPL at Chelsea. I don’t like the EPL, but the way Chelsea is playing under Ancelotti is not like a typical EPL and it would fit Angelito perfectly. I would love to see him whipping in crosses for Drogba

I agree with both of you.

Madrid is being badly run as a club. It is a big circus.

What a waste of time and talent it would be for Di Maria to stagnate on the Madrid bench.

I don’t know if Chelsea is going to make a serious offer for him.

Apparently, Manchester United is very interested in Di Maria but things have not worked out too well for Argentine players that have played there.

I don’t know if its been a football issue, a cultural issue or if its problematic to have Ferguson as the manager.
