‘Disappointed’ Tevez Hints At Manchester City Exit
Carlos Tevez last night dropped his clearest hints that he wants to quit Manchester City.
Argentinian striker Tevez says he wants to return to Boca Juniors and expressed his disappointment at not winning any trophies with City.
City boss Roberto Mancini is facing a major battle to keep Tevez this summer after the club missed out on finishing in the Champions League places.
It has put Real Madrid on red alert but Tevez has expressed his desire to return home to the club where he began his career and he is being widely tipped to leave the Premier League this summer.
Tevez, 26, in an interview with Fox Sports and Argentinian radio, said: “My idea is to one day leave Manchester City and to play in Boca Juniors.
“My season personally was good in England but I did not win any titles and that is disappointing.
“For me, this year was special. My challenge was to be consistent and arrive at the World Cup in perfect condition.
“I am convinced that South Africa will be my World Cup. I am now determined to put in the maximum effort and fight for my place in the starting XI for Argentina.
“Argentina are well prepared to be World Cup champions. There is no-one I would rather play for. When I play for Argentina, I play for the shirt and never the money.”
Boca Juniors would not be able to afford Tevez or his wages but the fact that the Argentinian is talking about leaving and his disappointment is a major worry for City. City will be desperate to keep the £32.5m striker to relaunch another assault on the top four next season and losing him would be a huge setback in their long term aims.
