Manchester United looking to sign Argentinian striker Boselli
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will launch a bid to sign Argentinian striker Mauro Boselli , according to the News of the World.
The 24 year-old is having an excellent season with Estudiantes in Argentina and has scored 23 goals in 34 games so far. Boselli is renowned for his excellent technique and eye for goal.
Ferguson will face still competition to bring the striker to Old Trafford, with a host of Premier League sides and Italian title challengers Roma also rumoured to be interested in Boselli.
Any transfer for the striker would be complicated by the fact that he is part-owned by Boca Juniors.
The News of the World speculates that it would cost £5million to capture Boselli who has one international cap.
However, Ferguson will be keen to add to his attacking options at Manchester United. Wayne Rooney has shouldered the goalscoring burden at Old Trafford this season.
Michael Owen has been injured, while the form of Dimitar Berbatov has come under fire and youngsters Danny Welbeck, Federico Macheda and Mame Biram Diouf are not considered ready to take on a regular first team role.
Ferguson has just signed a forward from the Americas, with Javier Hernandez having joined Manchester United from Chivas in Mexico.
