Part 5

Here’s Pipita Higuain on the Spanish TV program “Punto Pelota”.

The host of the show is a notorious critic of Higuain’s and tries to provoke him right from the start but Pipita stays calm and responds with intelligence and humor.

Higuain discusses his career, his beginnings in River, the invention by the Madrid media of a rivalry between him & Benzema, the national team, Maradona, Maradona’s public bashing of Real Madrid’s Sporting Director Jorge Valdano, Ronaldo, Messi, and more.

True Gentlemen… players should learn from him.

Pipita reminds me a lot of Batistuta, and zanetti, 2 true gentlmen on the field.

      I agree.

That host of the show is so obnoxious but Pipita showed his class.

He’s been saying on the show for at least a year that Higuain is not a goal scorer and that he is a bench player.

Yeah, that show host is a wizard.

  2. Moe says:

    hi,
i am new to this website and i am a die-hard Arg fan. i have been dying to hear the news that Banega would be called to the WC team, but it seems he won’t since he is out of the Germany match. Banega is the best playmaker we have and one of the best in the world at the moment…why maradona is ignoring him is beyond me.

so being closer to events, do you have any news about this? do you think diego might call Banega to the final WC list?

  3. pintadoazulblanco says:

    Hi Moe,

    Welcome to the blog.

I think that there is still a possibility that Banega might make the WC squad.

I really believe that at this moment he is the best central midfielder that Argentina has.

Maradona might be wanting to take one last look at Bolatti in the Germany game in order to make a final decision on the last central midfield spot for the squad.

    • Moe says:

      hi pintadoazulblanco,

if maradona likes bollati then why not take both players. we will then have 4 central midfielders which is even barely enough (mascherano, banega, veron, bollati). so i am afraid maradona has made up his mind and for some strange reason decided to keep Banega out.
But honestly if Germany game is to decide between Bollati and Banega then I have to admit i will be cheering for germany 😦

  4. Quico882k3 says:

I have to agree with Moe as much as it hurts to say it but if the game between Argentina and Germany decides weather Bolatti or Banega goes to WC then i hope Bolatti has a bad game quick question though i was reading some rumors about Ruggeri trying to approach Grondona face to face so he can be included in the coaching staff if Grondona was to accept do you think that Ruggeri would help in putting the team toegther and help Maradona see that we have players like Zanetti Zabaleta that are in great form that need to be in the team or will he be no help i ask this because i really dont know too much about Ruggeris point of views and how he sees soccer or if hes worst then maradona.

This is the link that talks about Ruggeri being part fo the staff.

  5. pintadoazulblanco says:

Ruggeri has been trying to join the national team coaching staff since Maradona was hired.

Ruggeri has approached Grondona and Bilardo.

    Grondona won’t allow it.

I think Ruggeri would be a better assistant coach than Mancuso because of the wealth of national team experience that he has, the coaching experience he has and the no nonsense leadership style he has.

I don’t know how influential he would be with Maradona. I’m sure he would not be afraid to disagree with Maradona and strongly express his opinions to Maradona.

    • Quico882k3 says:

Well if he would help the national team then im all for him joining he said he’s going to the Argentina and Germany game to push himself in the NT.
