Estudiantes-Alianza Lima Goals

I watched this game last night.

Estudiantes were humiliated by Alianza Lima.

Estudiantes not only lost 4-1, they were outplayed and outclassed by Alianza.

Estudiantes’ backline was a horror show, especially Clemente Rodriguez.

Check him out on Alianza’s second goal and fourth goal.

He was slow to the ball and weak throughout the game with his marking.

And he is someone that Maradona not only called up, Maradona told reporters this week that he needs Clemente Rodriguez.

What a joke.

Both player and manager.

    Rediculous !

I red about this last night… brings back bad memories when we played Peru in BA for the qualifiers and Peru was dominating the Match, and ALMOST didnt qualify for the WC !! : )

since when does a team from Peru ever give us a problem? especially scoring 4 times on one of our teams… thats embarrassing..

something is definetly wrong with Argentine Soccer lately.. its not the same it use to be.. Its the same with Boca and River, why is it that they are struggling so much !?!
i honestly dont understand what is going on.
do u think its the players or the coaching that is a problem ???

Watching the game last night, it was hard to believe that Estudiantes are the reigning South America Champions.

I’ve never seen an Estudiantes team so weak defensively, and not just the backline.

Alianza zoomed past Estudiantes’ midfield as if no Estudiantes players were there defending that zone.

Was it just a bad night for them?

    Time will tell.

I have to believe that Estudiantes will get back on track in this years Copa Libertadores.

That said, Alianza deserves lot of credit. They were the superior team last night. They outplayed Estudiantes in every aspect of the game and in every part of the field.

    What’s wrong with Argentine soccer?

    – None of the five big teams in Argentina qualified to this year’s Copa Libertadores

    – Small, modest teams like Banfield and Lanus have won the Argentine League recently and Tigre, Newells, Huracan have finished in second place.

I don’t think that there is one specific answer.

One of the reasons that River & Boca have struggled recently is that there’s been alot of poor performances & undearchieving on the part of the players on those teams.

I think that is probably the best starting point in explaining the current state of Argentine football.

The talent is definitely there on those teams.

It doesn’t appear that the big teams struggles will change real soon.

Look at the current standings in the Apertura.

Check out which teams are at the top of the standings.
