    Wow no Ever Banega?

  2. pintadoazulblanco says:

Maradona chose Bolatti, not a bad call up.

Maradona is certainly aware of Banega’s current form.

I don’t know if he’ll go with 3 central midfielders for the World Cup but if he decides to leave Banega out of the WC squad, it’ll be a bad move on his part.

  3. pintadoazulblanco says:

Datolo, Clemente Rodriguez, Jonas Gutierrez, Heinze, were all called up.

Just to think that all of them could be on the WC squad makes me sick to my stomach.

  4. Chris says:

    I agree with you guys…

one call up im actually curious to see IS Clemente,

what is it about this guy u dont like?? im just curious..

I still prefer zanetti or Zabaleta for that spot…
i still dont understand why he doesnt call up zabaleta.

    • pintadoazulblanco says:

Clemente Rodriguez has not proven at any stage in his career that he belongs on the national team.

His current form with Estudiantes is not worthy of a national team call up.

I’d actually prefer the player that he replaced due to injury.

I’d rather have Angeleri at 70% than a fully fit Clemente Rodriguez.

And as you said, there are players like Zanetti & Zabaleta who are far better choices for the right-back position.

  5. Quico882k3 says:

Lol i also think Datolo and Heinze are a waste of a spot for the WC but hopefully Banega gets called up i think him and Mascherano with Samuel back in the deffense can make argentina very solid and solve alot of our insecurities in the back lines.

  6. pintadoazulblanco says:

I agree, I think a midfield partnership of Masche & Banega in the WC would make our defense very solid.

Also, Banega can contribute alot with the play buildup which is a major area of weakness for Argentina.

Does anyone really feel comfortable that an old & injury prone Veron will be leading the attack in the World Cup?

  7. Quico882k3 says:

I think Veron leading the attack isnt the best choice but i dont c it as the worst I could be wrong but for some reason i see this new kid Pastore as a interesting option i been following him for a couple of games now with Palermo and i think he might have something to add to our fowards I picture Dimaria Messi Higuain and Pastore in the mix as a very fast and effective attack you add Banega ther and we might just have a competitive team just my opinion what do you guys think what would be other good options in your different points of view

  8. Chris says:

    that does concern me Pintadoazul,

I know ur not a fan of Veron, im 50/50 with him.
I like him because of his positive attitude he contributes to the team, and because most of our young players look up to him as a older brother for advice or pointers for the NT, I can possibley see him as a potential good coach in the future,
but i feel his age is finally catching up to him, and when he has posession of the ball, I feel he slows down the game a bit. just like Riquelme use to..
so I maybe think its a good idea to take him bcuz of his experience.
now here’s a question for you… what are ur thoughts on Pastore?? the route he’s goin now, and diego calling him up twice already, i wouldn’t be surprised if he was in the line up for the WC, also wouldn’t be surprised if he left out Aimar. Im starting to really like Pastore, i think he has great potential, and could possibley become one of the greatest midfielders, but then again he is still farely young, and has a lot to learn and experience.
Im happy for at least Di Maria being a regular call up, (this guy is phenomenal)
and Pipita, considering he hasn’t scored in the last 2 matches.. I really hope this guy doesn’t lose his form, I honestly have high hopes for this guy !
for some reason i keep having this thought that he’s going to be our savier in the WC.

    • pintadoazulblanco says:

Chris, I agree with you that Veron does bring experience and some form of leadership to the team but the problem is on the field. What does Veron bring?

Is Veron going to do in the WC, what he couldn’t do in the WC qualifiers?

That is, be the playmaker, contribute consistently and effectively to the play buildup.

Deliver balls to those upfront, especially Messi.

It’s not going to happen and in the WC Argentina is going to struggle with creating scoring chances, struggle on the attack.

  9. Chris says:

who would be ur ideal “enganche”/playmaker for the team !?!

considering we dont have many options, only one i can think of would be Aimar.

  10. Humbird says:

Is this our first meeting with Germany since WC 2006?

  11. pintadoazulblanco says:

I’m definitely a Pastore fan but I don’t think its reasonable to ask a 19 year old kid with very little international experience to be the Argentina #10 in a World Cup. It wouldn’t be fair to place all that pressure, a huge amount of pressure on Pastore’s shoulders.

It could turn out bad for Pastore and it could damage his career.

    • Quico882k3 says:

Idk call me crazy but i think Pastore is very strong minded i see him play for Palermo and when hes asked to put the team on his shoulders he does it now i know Palermo and the NT are way different but i think he’s up for the challenge of being the #10 some players are meant to have it and know how to deal with the #10 to ther responsability and we wont know until we try him out i think the friendly against Germany is the perfect scenario a Strong team like Germany can show if he’s up for it plus he already says he would want thew #10 playing for Barcelona

  12. pintadoazulblanco says:

I don’t have an ideal enganche because in my opinion there aren’t any. I don’t think that Argentina needs that traditional playmaker. We have players that are not playmakers but can create plays, go on the attack.

As an example I would say, a midfield of Aimar-Masche-Banega-DiMaria

Aimar attacking down the right flank, Banega attacking down the middle and Di Maria down the left side.

All three could also link up together and lead an attack.

  13. Quico882k3 says:

Quick question what line up would you guys want?

  14. pintadoazulblanco says:

This will not be the starting eleven in the WC but:

  15. chris says:

    I agree with Pintadoazul,
I love that line up, the only ones i would possibly consider changing would be to put in Romero, and Milito instead of Insua,

dont get me wrong, Insua has been one of my favorites, but here’s another young player we have the needs to develop.. i think he has great potential, but also makes a lot of mistakes in Liverpool.. he does deliver quite well though…
im just glad he gets to start nearly every game for liverpool… more experience for him !

  16. chris says:

  17. Quico882k3 says:

    nice mines is very similar

    Zanetti Demichellis Samuel Insua

    Pastore Mascherano Banega DiMaria

    Messi Higuain

  18. Demichelis says:

    —-MESSI——————————DI MARIA—-

  19. pintadoazulblanco says:

    Zabaleta in the left-back position?

  20. Quico882k3 says:

Do any of you guys know if maradona has said anything about calling up Banega or why he didnt call him up or if he plans to take him to the WC?

  21. pintadoazulblanco says:

Maradona was not asked about Banega.

  22. Maurice says:

Argentina always goes to the world cup in order to win it not to be embarrasing or just to make up the numbers. In order to win such an event as big as this adequate preparation and team chemistry is key.At this moment maradona has called up over 100 players and has yet to decide on a constant team he is doing the complete opposite of what a competent manager would have done. I do agree with these squad selections, however the world cup is june not next year summer and this is the last fifa date until the wc.Clearly someone needs to remind him of that.As you guys have said banega is incredible form for valencia and is yet to be called upon. The players that are playing well right now such as: cambiasso, garay, perotti, lisandro, leo franco, zanetti and zabaleta has been completely ignored by maradona. My comment is long but it had to be I am deeply worried about how the national team is being managed right now.
