Maradona press conference

Maradona addressed the media in a press conference today.

Maradona talked about the issue of player injuries and how that affects the way the players train with the national team. Maradona confirmed that Higuain will be in the starting lineup against Peru.

Interestingly, Maradona said that one of the reasons why Higuain has an edge over all the other forwards called up is because he
turned down the French national team twice.

Maradona said that he is not going to resign as national team manager.

He doesn’t sound or look like he expects to win. Doesn’t have the demeanor of a winner.

  2. pintadoazulblanco says:

I think he’s going to be gone even if Argentina qualifies to the WC.

Which would be great but its really terrible how Grondona & Bilardo are doing everything they can to make Maradona quit.

It’s all over his face. Maradona is worn out.

  3. King Aguero says:

So Pastore has to turn down the Italian NT to get called up to play for Argentina? thats cool he doesn’t measure players on talent but on who they turned down for Argentina? lool sounds like the millitary!

    • pintadoazulblanco says:

Well, Maradona also said that Higuain is in good form and focused.

But the comment about Higuain turning down France was revealing.

As far as Pastore, he’s a talented and promising player but I don’t think it’s his time yet with the national team.

He’s very young and unproven at this point.

  4. albino says:

It would best scenario. Argentina qualifies and Maradona leaves.
