Grondona getting ready to fire Maradona?

According to a report published in the newspaper El Dia, Julio Grondona is considering firing Maradona before the end of the WC qualifying campaign and replace him with Carlos Bilardo, Sergio Batista and Jose Luis Brown as part of the new coaching staff.

Grondona met with Batista and Brown yesterday.

Grondona has never fired a national team manager.

Is the ax about to drop on Maradona?

I think Brown denied those rumors today?

  2. pintadoazulblanco says:

I haven’t seen Brown’s denial being reported anywhere.

If the rumors were true Brown would not be admitting to it publicly anyhow.

  3. chris says:

i THINK ITS GREAT NEWS, I JUST HOPE ITS TRUE, TATA BROWN AND BATISTA ARE GREAT COACHES.
IM NOT SURE IF ANYONE ELSE CAN BACK ME UP ON THIS ONE AND AGREE, BUT LATELY MY DAD AND I WOULD WATCH THE LAST FEW GAMES ARGENTINA PLAYED, AND EVERYTIME THE CAMERA WOULD FOCUS ON DIEGO, HE JUST SEEMS LIKE HE’S GETTING HIGH AGAIN..

I think what would’ve helped Maradona alot was having el Checho Batista and Brown as the assistants, which was the original plan when Maradona was hired but Maradona refused to have them as his assistants and Grondona went along with that.

Maradona instead chose his two close friends who have no managing experience as his assistants.

Lemme and Mancuso are even more useless than Maradona.

Keep in mind that Grondona is a close friend of Bilardo’s and has wanted him back as national team manager for many years.

Is the groundwork being laid down for that?

  5. pintadoazulblanco says:

Hopefully the stupor that Maradona displays on the sidelines is from his incompetence not from drugs.

But really, at this point it doesn’t even matter.

wow…it’s a good news. Sergio Batista and Jose Luis Brown are good coach. Maradona is only a good player, not a good coach.

I think Argentina should use the player from the team which won the U-20 WC 2005, U-20 WC 2007, and 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Grondona needs to be fired too. He is the clown who is responsible for destroying AFA. They both need to go. http://bobbygee.wordpress.com/

  8. Damian says:

I couldn’t even bare to watch another game under Maradona’s coaching. He is not a good coach at all. My own mother said it from the start it was a bad idea. Look where we are now. I hope they fire him. Bring back Riquelme, Cambiasso, Maxi, and Lucho. We need better players out there. We can win this cup. Keep us updated with any changes please. I love this site.

    AGUANTE ARGENTINA!!!

  9. pintadoazulblanco says:

    Thank You!

  10. Damian says:

What are the chances of them getting rid of him? ANyone really know?

    VAMOS ARGENTINA!! TE AMO!!!
