Argentina vs Brasil

We all know that Argentina-Brasil is the biggest rivalry and the biggest game in world football.

Because of Argentina’s place in the WC qualifying standings, today’s game is of even more importance than usual. Today’s game is for Argentina, as big of a must win as any game has ever been against Brasil.

All clasicos are different and today’s has the additional factor of the game setting. The game will take place outside of Buenos Aires, in Rosario, which is a city that is smaller in size but is just as big as Buenos Aires in the fervor and passion that the fans there have for football.

Playing in Rosario Central’s smaller but more intimate stadium where the fans can be heard and felt by every player is without a doubt a plus for Argentina.

What can we expect to see tonight?

Based on what was seen in the practice sessions this week and what Maradona said during the week, Argentina will begin the game with a 4-4-2 lineup that will change when the team goes on the attack.

Zanetti & Maxi Rodriguez will make attacking runs from their flank as will Datolo from his side of the field.

Veron will position himself alongside Mascherano when the game starts but Veron will not remain there for long as he will move constantly and attempt to have alot of contact with the ball and be responsible for the play buildup and leading the attack.

Upfront, the idea is for Tevez to attack the Brazilian center backs with his pace and physical potency and for Messi to move all around the attacking front.

Defensively, Argentina will have to watch out for Brasil’s dangerous counter attacks. The backline (Zanetti & Heinze in particular), Masche and Datolo will need to be focused and aware of their positioning at all times because otherwise Brazil’s fullbacks and especially Kaka & Robinho with their pace and skill will be lethal.

Dominguez & Otamendi, playing together for the first time on the national team will have stay on top of Luis Fabiano and not give him room to maneuver, to escape their tight marking because if he does he can also be lethal.

Will tonight be Messi’s game?

All Argentina fans are waiting for Messi’ big game with the national team, for Messi to perform with the Argentina shirt as he does in Barcelona.

In Barcelona, Lio has a team structure behind him, has a team that plays by memory and plays well. In Argentina it is the complete opposite.

But, all eyes will be on him tonight. If Messi finally breaks through and plays like he can, Argentina will win.

Having an in form Messi is an advantage that no other team in the world has. Only Argentina has it. Messi is truly our ace of spades.

Tonight, Argentina has to win, no other result will suffice.

Tonight, Argentina will have an entire stadium painted white & sky blue, full of rabid fan support, pushing the team on.

Tonight, every player on the field will have to rise to the occasion.

And Argentina fans, everywhere in the world. It is time.

Llegó la hora de alentar a muerte a la Argentina!!!!!!!!!!

i’m watching the colombia vs. ecuador game right now and hoping for a 0-0 draw or colombia win. if ecuador win, they will over take us, adding to the pressure. If Colombia wins, things will be very tight with tem and ecuador sitting two points behind us. thats not even taking into consideration the result of the uruguay peru match. This has got to be the most dramatic day of football for so many nations in many, many years.

  12. pintadoazulblanco says:

I would’ve liked to have seen that game but I’m already paying $35 to see the Argentina game.

I’m listening to it on La Red. It sounds like its a pretty boring game so far.

A tie would be a great result for Argentina.

Speaking of today being a dramatic day, Portugal was four minutes away from losing and not qualifying to the WC but they scored a goal and stay alive.

  13. pintadoazulblanco says:

Right now, Maradona is holding the tactical meeting and it is being reported that he prepared a motivation video and is showing it to the team.

Looks like Guardiola has started a trend.

  14. pintadoazulblanco says:

Colombia 1-0 Ecuador 5 minutes left

Peru 1-0 Uruguay 2 minutes left

  15. shamim says:

Vamos Argentina!! Good luck with Paraguay!! A true fan from Finland (Bangladesh)
