Insua to receive callup?

Benitez: Argentina keeping tabs on Insua progress
By Soccernet staff

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has claimed that Argentina national team boss Diego Maradona is monitoring the progress of defender Emiliano Insua.

The youngster will get his chance.

Maradona is reportedly considering an international call-up for the 20-year-old, after he proved himself worthy of being first choice for the left-back position at Anfield.

“Maradona is watching him and the Argentina staff are monitoring the situation because they know he’s doing well,” Benitez told the club’s official website.

“I think in the future – I don’t know how long, but sooner rather than later – he will be with the national team.”

Man, I really hope Diego calls him up.. this guy is so young, and a very promising Player !.. he’s been starting for the past few games, and every game review all I’ve been hearing is great things about this guy.. this is where we lack as well (defense).

There’s definitely been a void in the left back position for a while now.

Maradona needs to callup some of our best young defenders, he already did with Otamendi but that’s not enough.

Now that he is in Liverpool’s starting lineup, it’ll be interesting to see how well Insua plays this season.

The national team defense needs a generational change.

    The sooner, the better.

he and masch were the only two liverpool players who looked decent in their loss to Villa. Insua created Torres ball with a great run and lofted pass. I really hope he gets called up, he can’t be any worse than the others we have there. Since Jonas is a now a starter, Insua would do well linking up down that side, and Jonas could give him cover. By the way, did you see the Atletico v. Pana game today? Kun and Maxi looked good, but Sebastian Leto was probably the best player on the field. He reminds of Jonas, only he is actually sound technically, he can send in crosses, and he can actually shoot. All Jonas has is speed, work rate, and some flicks and tricks that don’t really account for anything.

Yes, I’ll definitely be following Insua’s progress this season.

I wasn’t able to watch the Atletico-Pana second leg but it’s good to hear that Aguero & Maxi had a good game.

You’re right about Insua, he cannot be any worse than the other players used in that position.

There’s a real possibility that Heinze will be the starting left back against Brasil.

Dani Alves will tear him apart.
