Call up list for Russia game

Maradona gave the list of players today for the upcoming friendly against Russia.

Huracan’s talented central midfielder Mario Bolatti is receiving his first call up to the national team. Bolatti was one of the best players in the Clausura 09 and is definitely a player to watch.

Otamendi is getting another call up and he is also another promising player, among the best in the new generation of defenders coming out of Argentina.

Unfortunately, on the list there are also players that are not deserving of a call up.

Papa, Heinze, Gutierrez, Aguero, Diaz, Burdisso, Datolo, Battaglia, Tevez (who is currently injured) are highly questionable call ups.

Can anyone guess what Daniel Diaz, Burdisso, Datolo, Battaglia and Tevez have in common?

Player list:

Im sorry, but Im not very excited about this call up. I understand its only a friendly, but we dont have much time.. I personally would leave out Heinze, Diaz,Battaglia, call up Pareja, Garay, Zabaleta, get rid of Jonas Gutierrez, and put Angel Di Maria in that position (or Cambiasso), and change Milito for Higuain, Milito seems like he can only score for club soccer, I haven’t seen him score in the national team since he’s played, if he did, it was a long time ago..
    This is just my opinion..

please tell me what ur thoughts are, Pintazulblanco and others.. and who u would call up and or leave out. Thanks guys…sorry, just like to see what peoples thoughts and call ups would be..

I agree with your picks. Di Maria is currently suspended because of the red card in the Bolivia game.

The most worrying thing about the call up list for me is that there are important players on it that are at risk of picking up an injury in what is a really irrelevant game.

I don’t even want to imagine Messi, Masche or Maxi missing out on the Brasil game because they were injured against Russia.

There are alot of players being called up that do not deserve to be.

Right now, the backline is struggling the most. Changes need to be made.

In addition to Otamendi, I would like to see other young defenders like Sebastian Dominguez, Garay, Zabaleta, Emiliano Insua, Fazio, Gonzalo Rodriguez (if he can stay healthy) brought into the national team.

Argentina has an outstanding new generation of defenders and it is time that they start making their way on to the national team.

Unfortunately, we just have to accept that as long as Maradona is in charge, the call up lists will not be logical. Heinze is one of the most washed up players in the world…anyone who saw Madrid play Barcelona or Liverpool last season would know this. Same goes to anyone who saw him play against Paraguay when his own goal seemed to signify the end of his career for the NT, as Basile left him out of the next match…Then Maradona took over, and he is a mainstay and apparently the vice captain, above Zanetti, which is a travesty. As for Jonas, I do not see why or how any player playing for Newcastle, who recently were beaten 6-1 by a third division side, could be called up to any national team. They are entrenched in the English second division. Jonas himself, has a lot of flicks and tricks and does alot of running, but as winger, he does not score goals or create them. Alas, this is what we deal with Diego. Both Jonas and Heinze are clearly two of Maradona favorites, hopefully they will get injured and miss the Brazil game.

i totally agree with you guys. what is this? is this some kind of jock??? what is happening to maradona? is he mad?? what is heinze doing here. he should have retired 2 years ago and should have been wathing these game on t.v,bt why should he retire rt? as long as maradona is there, he should be there. n yes where is zabaleta, garay and ofcourse higuain???? what is milito doing there?? i m sorry bt if it gose like this we can see argentina playing coming world cup n that would end our world cup too.
