Stadium change possible for Argentina-Brasil game

Radio La Red is reporting that AFA president Julio Grondona will propose that the next WC qualifier against Brasil be played in Rosario Central’s stadium.

The reason for the change of venue from River Plate’s stadium is due to the ongoing conflict between Maradona and several members of the River Plate board over the comments that Maradona made about the field conditions in River’s stadium before the recent WC qualifier against Colombia.

While the field conditions were not suitable for that WC qualifying game, Maradona’s comments were excessive and really over the top.

Grondona did issue an apology to River in an attempt to put an end to the public war of words between Maradona and the River board but the ongoing controversy will not go away any time soon especially if Argentina’s WC qualifiers are no longer played in River’s stadium.
