Chelsea target Sergio Aguero ready to leave Atletico Madrid if the price is right

Sergio Aguero has opened the door to a move to Chelsea by admitting he is prepared to leave Atletico Madrid.

The Argentina striker is determined to see the season out with the La Liga strugglers, but is willing to change clubs at the end of the season if the price is right.

Stamford Bridge boss Carlo Ancelotti is a confirmed admirer of the 21-year-old and would ideally like to add him to the ranks in January, when Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou are expected to be called up for the Africa Cup of Nations.

But Aguero said: ‘I’ve always told the club that from now until June I’ll stay here. Then we will see what they do.

‘If in June the club still needs money, there are ways to help.

‘This is my home, but if the club have to sell me, I must go. I know nothing. Now I need to concentrate on getting us into Europe.’

Aguero starred in Atletico’s 4-0 victory over Espanyol on Sunday, scoring twice and making the other two. It was only their second League win of the season, leaving them 17th.

Atleti’s debts will make it difficult to resist bids for their star players, particularly if they lose Champions League revenue next season.

Aguero has a buy-out clause worth £54million, but Chelsea will open the bidding closer to the £40m mark, which would still smash the British record £34m that Manchester City paid Real Madrid for Robinho 15 months ago.

Ancelotti and Atletico may try to convince the former Independiente star to move this winter, but a compromise would be for Chelsea to sign him in January and loan him back to the Spaniards until the end of the season.

The Blues, whose FIFA-imposed transfer ban has temporarily been suspended pending an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, know it would be a risk to wait until the summer to get their man.

Manchester United and Liverpool have previously tracked Aguero, but it remains to be seen whether they will make a new bid for him.

Maradona no podrá ir al sorteo del Mundial

La FIFA ratificó que la sanción al técnico también abarca la ceremonia del 4 de diciembre en la que se conocerán los rivales de Argentina en Sudáfrica 2010.

Diego Maradona no podrá participar del sorteo de grupos del Mundial de Sudáfrica, que se realizará el 4 de diciembre en Ciudad del Cabo, por la suspensión de dos meses que la FIFA le impuso al técnico de la Selección. El 10 fue castigado el 15 de noviembre por sus exabruptos en la conferencia de prensa tras el partido que Argentina le ganó a Uruguay y con el cual se clasificó a la cita mundialista.

Según informó la agencia AP, el máximo organismo del fútbol mundial confirmó que la suspensión es de cualquier actividad oficial relacionada con el fútbol, incluyendo el sorteo de la próxima semana en la ciudad sudafricana y el amistoso ante la selección de Cataluña, a disputarse el 22 de diciembre en Barcelona.

Carlos Bilardo, manager de la Selección, dijo anoche que si hoy la FIFA ratificaba la sanción a Maradona, él no sería quien asista al sorteo del Mundial la semana próxima. Además, descartó ser quien dirija al seleccionado en el partido ante Cataluña. De esa forma, Mancuso o Enrique estarían al frente del equipo.

El presidente de AFA, Julio Grondona, analiza junto a los asesores legales de la institución madre del fútbol argentino, el alcance de la medida y si apelarán la sanción de la FIFA.

Italy interested in Pastore

According to a report in La Nacion, Italian national team manager Marcello Lippi is following Javier Pastore closely.

Lippi has started to ask questions about a possible call up for Palermo’s talented midfielder.

Palermo’s sporting director Walter Sabatini has been notified about the possibility of Pastore playing for the Italian national team.

Recently there were rumors that Mauro Zarate would consider playing for Italy, which he’s denied and now there’s Pastore.

I think that Pastore’s situation is different than Zarate’s.

Pastore is one of the most promising playmakers to come out of Argentina in recent times.

Looking at the quantity and quality of playmakers in Argentine football today there really aren’t too many players to speak of.

If Pastore does choose to play for Italy it would be a serious loss for Argentina.

I think that Zarate is expendable.

Pastore is not.

Let’s hope that Pastore does not give in to the pressure he might be getting from the Italian FA and from Palermo.

El ex delantero de Huracán, que juega en Palermo, es seguido de cerca por el seleccionador de Italia, Marcello Lippi

La vida de algunos deportistas está marcada por hechos fortuitos y otros no tanto. El no ser tenido en cuenta, por más condiciones que uno tenga y tener que esperar por “la oportunidad”, es algo que a menudo pasa con muchos futbolistas.

Quizás, lo que no ven dirigentes, sí lo ven empresarios y apuestan a esa oportunidad. Algo así le pasó a Javier Pastore, un flaquito, muy talentoso y lagunero, que no tenía posibilidad de mostrarse.

Un grupo empresario lo compró y se lo ofreció a Angel Cappa, no a Huracán, ya que el club no lo tenía en carpeta.

El técnico lo aceptó y con charlas y más charlas, empezó a moldear al jugador que fue en el Clausura pasado: una de las apariciones más fulgurantes del torneo.

Sabido es que en nuestro país los jóvenes que tengan un campeonato bueno, no llegan a jugar el segundo, porque ya son vendidos a clubes que le aseguran el futuro muy rápidamente.

Con Pastore pasó esto mismo. Gracias a Huracán, hola al Palermo. El presidente del club italiano, Maurizio Zamparini, puso sus ojos en el habilidoso mediocampista y lo compró.

Fue como un antojo cumplido. Muchos recuerdan cuando Silvio Berlusconi se enamoró de Claudio Borghi y cumplió el deseo de tenerlo al “Bichi” en sus filas.

Cuando Javier llega al Palermo, ya había asumido Walter Zenga como técnico y este no es un dato menor. Zamparini fue quién echó al actual técnico de la Lazio, Davide Ballardini, por malos resultados.

Con este entrenador jugaban con enganche, puesto que reforzaban con Pastore.

Al asumir Zenga, Palermo pasó a jugar sin enlace lo que significó entre otras cosas, que el presidente lo cuestionara públicamente y pusiera en duda su continuidad, por no saber explotar las condiciones técnicas del argentino. Estaba muy molesto con que ocupara la posición de volante por la izquierda.

No sólo Zamparini se dio cuenta de esta situación, Marcello Lippi, entrenador de la selección italiana, comenzó hace 15 días a preguntar sobre una eventual citación del ex Huracán.

Francesco Totti, que fue nuevamente operado de su rodilla derecha hace menos de un mes, parece no tener todo el crédito para ser el conductor en Sudáfrica, además de llegar con casi 34 años de edad. Pastore pasó a ser un apellido más a seguir.

Walter Sabatini, director deportivo del Palermo, ya está notificado de tal posibilidad. Sólo resta saber si el buen ojo de Cappa, Zamparini y que parece tener Marcello Lippi, pondrá a Javier en el mundial, con la casaca azurra.
