Boss: Tevez deal is close
Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that United are trying to sign Argentine striker Carlos Tevez, and he hopes to complete a deal in the near future.
Frenzied speculation in the latter half of last week predicted that United would have wrapped up a deal for the West Ham star over the weekend.
No deal has yet been completed, but Sir Alex claims that – as far as he is aware – there are no complications in a deal which is ready to go through.
“We are in negotiations, which has been well documented,” he said, speaking at a press conference to unveil new signings Owen Hargreaves and Nani.
“[Club Solicitor] Maurice Watkins has been working on it for a month, maybe more, to make sure the deal is perfectly clear and there are no side issues.
“To be honest I thought it would have all been sorted by the weekend just gone. It must be the Premier League that is holding it up.
“From what David [Gill] and Maurice said everything was ready to go. Unless something’s being held back from us, I don’t know of anything that’s holding it up.
“The essential parts of the deal are all agreed, hopefully it will be finalised soon.”

pintadoazulblanco what you think about Carlitos moving to man united? I think this is a very important transfer in his life that will ultimately strengthen his abilities. In West Ham I believe he didn’t have the chance to shine as much because of the people he played with. In Man United I think he will be the best in his career because he will be playing alongside players that are up to par with Tevez. Even though I have disliked Manchester United…..maybe now I have a reason to cheer them on

I totally agree with you.
It would be the most important transfer of his career because it’s Man Utd and everything that is associated with that team (fame, recognition, media attention, etc…)
As you said, playing with better players like Ronaldo, Rooney, and others will only help Tevez but it will also help those players too. It goes both ways.
Tevez already has a season of Premier League football under his belt so he knows what it’s like to play there and I think he’s made the adjustment successfully.
The truth is that Tevez would be wasting away at West Ham, fighting to avoid relegation, whereas with Man Utd he’ll be competing for important things, especially the Champions League.
And considering the spectacular form that Tevez is in right now, he will without a doubt make Man Utd an even better team, immediately.
I don’t follow the Premier League too closely but if Tevez does end up in Manchester, I will definitely be watching alot of their games this upcoming season.
